The Stegmann Timeline 1956
Company Founded by Max Stegmann in Schwenningen.
1960
The company which now employs 50 people, moves to Donaueschingen. Key products: small size motors, gears, program controls and precision mechanical components.
1972
Incremental shaft encoders and absolute encoders are added to the range. Junior executive Günther Stegmann joins the management.
1977-1978
Expansion of production plant. Number of employees rises to 200.
1980-1983
Continuous expansion of production plant and of the administrative building.
1985-1986
Introduction of important product innovations relating to absolute encoders.
1987
Death of senior executive Max Stegmann. The management is taken over by Günther Stegmann (Managing Partner) and Bernd Häffner, former plant manager.
1989
Construction of the third factory unit, complete remodeling of the administrative building.
1994
Establishment of subsidiaries within the European Union Area.
1995
Restructuring of the entire organization. Bernd Häffner retires after working for the company for 40 years.
1996
Reorganization of the management : Günther Stegmann (Chairman), Hansjürgen Bühler (Markets), Harald Schwitkowski (Administration), Josef Siraky (Engineering). Number of employees 450. Setting up of a production plant in Sosnowiec, Poland
1997
Organization of Stegmann Inc., a wholly owned Stegmann Manufacturing Facility located in Dayton, Ohio, USA.
2002
Acquisition of Max Stegmann GmbH and subsidiaries by SICK AG of Waldkirch, Germany. SICK AG is a leading producer of sensors and sensor systems for industrial applications.
